Highlights of HOPE

  • 50 years of service to the community in the areas of housing counseling, including foreclosure prevention counseling, pre-purchase counseling, homebuyer education, and financial literacy, as well as housing development, and small business lending.
  • HOPE provides counseling and education to over 400 families on an annual basis.
  • Over the past 5 years HOPEs counselors have assisted a total of 2,649 families.
    • 1,106 of those families were very low income (below 30% of the Area Median Income) who would not otherwise be able to access such services.
    • HOPE helped 995 of those families with credit counseling and navigating the often complicated home buying process.
      • 167 of those families purchased housing with HOPE's assistance (either financial, supportive, or both)
    • HOPE helped 1306 of those families attempt to avoid foreclosure by working with their lender to get them on a more affordable payment plan or help them transition into more affordable housing.
      • 495 of those families avoided foreclosure with HOPE's assistance in obtaining more affordable payment plans or transitioning into more affordable housing.
  • HOPE has developed 62 single-family homes over the past 10 years. 
    • 40 of those homes are lease-to-own properties managed under Homes of Evansville as subsidiary of HOPE. Those will be rented to families below 60% of the Area Median Income for 15 years and then will be transitioned into homeownership. Residents will receive $1,000 credit for each year they resided in their residence toward the purchase of the home if they desire to purchase it at the end of the 15 year period.
    • 22 of those homes have been developed and sold to families below 80% of the Area Median Income. This has generate over $1.8 million in home sales.
  • HOPE has provided local businesses small business loans to help improve and grow their business. Both business are minority-owned business. One is a daycare and the other is a catering business. These loans total $12,500.
  • Since 1997 HOPE has helped 949 families purchase their first home by providing comprehensive counseling, education, and down payment assistance. 
    • These families received an average of 5 hours of counseling, 8 hours of education, and $2,214.
    • HOPE has provided a total of $3.07 million in down payment assistance to families since 1997.
    • This has generated $6.4 million in homes sales.
