2016 Annual Report Highlights

 

  • A total of 392 households were served by HOPE's counselors in 2016. 381 of those households made less than 80% of the area median income and without HOPE's assistance we not be able to afford services.

  • 148 households received pre-purchase housing counseling.

  • 225 households received foreclosure prevention housing counseling.

  • 19 households received comprehensive home buyer education totaling 171 hours of education provided.

  • 107 households received some form of group education throughout their counseling process.

  • 176 households were able to establish a sustainable household budget because of the counseling they received.

  • 18 households improved their financial and housing situations because of the services provided.

  • 76 households were able to prevent the foreclosure of their homes because of the foreclosure prevention counseling they received. These families will not face the financial, household, and emotional crises which occur when a family loses their home which can often lead to homelessness.

  • 15 households purchased housing using HOPE's down payment assistance program. HOPE provided these households with a total of $33,220 in down payment assistance. Households received an average of $2,214 in down payment assistance. This assistance helped ensure these households have affordable housing payments which will bring stability to their families. 

  • HOPE's pre-purchase counseling program helped create $1.27 million in home sales in 2016.

  • HOPE worked with a local, minority-owned catering business in 2016 by providing them with a small business loan of $7,500 tohelp them save their business after they lost their main catering contract. HOPE partnered with the Indiana Small Business Development Center, who helped them create their loan proposal, and Memorial CDC, who provided additional financial support, to help ensure this business would be successful. This business is still running today and has begun paying back their loan.

  • HOPE built two, new, single-family homes in 2016. These homes were beautiful, craftsman style homes which were built near Haynie's Corner in the Culver Neighborhood. Both homes were sold to low-to-moderate income households. One of the new homeowners worked with HOPE for three years to build her credit and savings so she could purchase a home built by HOPE. These homes added $245,000 in home sales to the local market and two new homeowners to this up-and-coming neighborhood.
